HORSE GRAM RASAM(HURALI SAARU)

HURALI SAARU (HORSE GRAM RASAM):

INGREDIENTS:

1.250 Gms Horse Gram(HG) (Hurali).
2.Haldi.
3.4-5 Tsps Tamarind Juice.
4.3-4 Tsps Jaggery.
5.Salt to Taste.
6.Required Water.

 FOR GRINDING:
1.1 Cup Grated Coconut.
2.2 Cardamom (Elachi).
3.4-5 Tsps Rasam Powder.
4.3-4 Tsps Cooked HG(Hurali).

TEMPERING:
1 Tsp Oil,1 tsp Mustard Seeds,2-3 Broken Red Chilles,Hing,Curry Leaves.

METHOD:
1.Clean,Wash & Soak HG Over Night.
2.Pressure Cook the HG for 5-6 Whistles with 1HG : 3Water.
3.Grind all the above ingredients to smooth paste.
4.When cool sieve the cooked HG.
5.Keep the Cooked Horse gram separately.
6.Take the thick liquid to prepare Rasam by adding Haldi, Grinded Mixture,Tamarind Juice,Salt & Jaggery,
7.Stir continuously for sometime & Boil nicely till it smells good.
8.Prepare Tempering & add to the Rasam.

PS: GOES WELL WITH HOT RICE & RAGI HITTU(BALLS).


HURALI (HG)USALI OR PALYA:

INGREDIENTS:
1.2 Cups Cooked HG.
2.1 Cup Grated Coconut.
3.Hing.
4.Haldi.
5.Salt to Taste.
6.3-4 Tsps Lemon Juice.
7.2-3 Tsps Jaggery.

TADKA: 
1 Tsp Oil, 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds,1 Tsp Jeera,Hing,3-4 Broken Red Chilles,Curry Leaves,

METHOD:
1.Take Thick Kadai,Prepare Seasoning by putting above ingredients of Tadka.
2.Add Cooked HG & stir nicely.
3.Add Coconut,Tamarind Juice,Jaggery,Salt & Lemon Juice.
4.Mix Well.

PS:BOTH RASAM & USALI GOES WELL WITH RICE,CHAPATI & AS A SNACK.
GOOD DURING WINTER & RAINY SEASON.
